Minimum requirements
Becoming a driver is easier than you think
The minimum requirement is 21 years of age and at least 1 year holding a full UK driving licence. You will need a Taxi or Private Hire driver badge from your local council — for example, an Argyll and Bute badge currently costs only £133 for 3 years.

Our onboarding team calls or emails within 24–72 hours to verify your DVLA licence, council taxi/private-hire badge and vehicle insurance.
3. Activate the driver app
Once verified, download the Trident Taxis driver app on iOS or Android and we activate your account for £20/week — 0% commission on fares.
4. Start earning UK-wide & in Northern Ireland
Accept instant bookings in your area or claim pre-planned account work, airport transfers and long-distance hires anywhere in the UK and across Northern Ireland.

Farebookings driver app
Farebookings Driver App (iOS & Android)
Alternate entry point for drivers dispatched through Farebookings. Approved drivers are issued a login and app invite for iOS or Android.
- Request access below and we'll send an invite to your Apple ID or Google account.
- Sign in with the Farebookings driver credentials we email you — do not create a new account.
- Same 10% per-job fee and £20/week terms apply as the other dispatch apps.
Not yet approved? Complete the driver application first — app invites are only sent to approved drivers.
Optional secondary app
Onde Driver app (10% commission per job)
Drivers who want extra jobs from our Onde-powered dispatch can also install the Onde Driver app. This is separate from the Trident driver app and is not 0% commission.
- A 10% service fee applies to every completed booking taken through the Onde Driver app.
- Fees are invoiced weekly against your accepted bookings and payable to National Private Taxi Hire / Trident Taxis. Unpaid balances may pause your account.
- Installing the Onde Driver app confirms you accept the 10% per-job fee and the billing terms in the driver agreement.
Prefer 0% commission? Stick with the Trident Taxis driver app above — flat £20/week, no per-job fees.
Torotec Track System (dispatch & tracking)
Required for drivers on our Torotec-powered dispatch. You must enter our company code on sign-up.
